To know that s,f, and l will be doubled at the end of a short vowel one syllable word.

To review sounds and write lowercase c, a, o, g, d,

To identify beginning, middle, and end of a story.

To identify cause and effect in a story.

To identify sequence in a story.

To retell a story.

To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)

New word study words this week: Unit 9, off, will, miss, you, fizz, pass.

Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, big, is, did, if, it, his pack , sick, tack, back, kid, cab, sack, pack, its, him, quit, six, fix, wax, on got, not, was, box, job.

Red words to know: the, to, have, said, of, was.

To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.

To listen and respond to My River.

To listen to our Book of the Week:  A Beaver Tale.

To learn more about rivers.

To learn more about beavers.

To record and observe all our insects.

To learn more about the writing process from real authors on Writer’s Day!!

To learn more about Election Day and to have a mock election.

Friday: Send in sound sharing for anything that ends with double ss,ll, zz, ff.

This is me and my sister on Halloween when I was in first grade.  Which one do you think is me?? Looks like this rock and roll theme has been coming for a while!!  Hope you all had fun tonight.

Well, as I am sure you figured out our trip to the Plantation is cancelled due to weather;( We will check out the dates available to make up the trip, or your money will be refunded.   I hope everyone stays safe and power does not go out!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is ok on Wednesday for our Parade!!  If it is Please send your child's costume in a bag marked with a name.   The Parade starts at 1:45.  In the meantime, read some books and check out my portaportal for many age appropriate learning games.  The link is on my webpage.  Log in as a guest password: pbesselman.

Shape Song

We have been learning the names of 3D Shapes and we practice naming them each day.  Today we watched this and it was a big hit!  I promised I would add it to my blog so they can sing it with you at home.  Enjoy
