newsletter Oct 15


Mrs. Besselman’s Bulletin                                  10/15/12

Goals for the week:
To review all short vowel sounds.
To continue to compare and combine numbers.
To understand there are different ways to make the same number.
To solve a problem where the total and one part are known.
To use problem solving steps to solve addition problems.
To become more familiar with a calendar.
To read a In a Dark, Dark, Wood.
To review sounds and write magic c letters.
To listen to The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
To know that /k/ at the end of a short vowel one syllable word is -ck
New word study words this week:  back, kid, cab, of, sack, and pack.
Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as , has, can, the, an, man, sad, had, van, rag, bad, to, in, big, is, have, did, I, it his, pack, said, sick, and tack.
 To have fun making spider decorations for our hallway.
To write our own version of the itsy bitsy spider.
To learn more about spiders.
To continue to learn about Christopher Columbus.
To learn about N,S,E, and W on a compass rose.
To compare the life cycles of mealworms and wax worms.


Homework :
Monday night: literacy activity page
Tuesday night: Scholastic news
Wednesday night: math activity page
Thursday : study math facts and word study words.
Friday:  sound sharing something that begins with either c or k.


 Request and Reminders
*  book orders are due on Friday.  Online ordering available:

We are in need of 4 inch Styrofoam balls if you are near a craft store and would like to donate

*Sight word homework is coming home this week for some who need extra practice. Please sign and return the notice acknowledging that you have gotten the sight word packet.

Field trip money due ASAP Payment has already been made to the Plantation.  Cash only please.
