Goals for the week:
To review all short vowel sounds.
To continue to work with addition and subtraction facts.
To solve addition and subtraction problems using strategies we have learned.
To identify and classify plane and 3 d shapes.
To know the difference between solid and plane shapes.
To make pictures using shapes.
To use a graph to show information about a picture.
To read and write words using short vowels a, i, o and e.
To continue to practice reading and writing words including diagraphs “the h brothers”  ch, wh, th, sh.
New word study words this week: blends, Unit 13 all flag, class, plan, sled, glad, black, fresh, bring, grass, drink, crack, press, twin, spell, still, swim, snack, skin, smell.

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.
To read non-fiction stories about Fall and the First Thanksgiving.
To use text features and clues in nonfiction books to learn more information and understand new words.
To make connections and use background knowledge to learn more from nonfiction texts.
To read with fluency and expression as we perform a reader’s theatre on Tuesday at 9.
To continue to learn about Pebbles, sand and silt.
Homework :  All WEEKEND: Practice reading your line for our Reader’s theatre  on Tuesday!
Monday : Complete an activity on your READO board
Tuesday: Study math facts, more coming home in folder today.
Wednesday : Fluency Folder
Book Fair Money, return turkey sent home last Friday.
Thursday:  Study word study words using your spelling menu .

To begin see related math facts and create fact families.
To learn about plane and solid shapes and their characteristics.
To sort shapes and to create pictures using shapes.
To review sounds and write lowercase letters
To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)
To identify the differences in fiction and non-fiction texts.
To read and spell words with the short vowel e.

Friday: Wear Red White and Blue in honor of Veterans.
Look for Thanksgiving Homework to come home this week!! 

Request and Reminders:  You can return reading logs at any time when they are completed.  I will send a pizza slip and a new reading log for you.  You may also send for a new Reado  when you finish all squares.  Both can also be found on my website under Documents and files tab.
If you plan to attend school on National Education Day (November 13th from 9-9:30) Please RSVP to me so I can let the office know who to expect.
