Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds.

To continue to work with addition and subtraction.

To use the count on, count back, take away strategies for subtraction.

To use the number bond strategy for addition and subtraction.

To identify fact and opinions about Halloween and Bats.

To identify fiction and nonfiction stories.

To continue to identify and write facts and opinions.

To identify beginning, middle, and end of a story.

To identify cause and effect in a story.

To identify sequence in a story.

To retell a story using all the story elements.

To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)

To read many Halloween stories.

To read about Bats, fiction and nonfiction.

To identify non-fiction text features.

To write a complete sentence using a noun and a verb.

To write about Bats using more than one fact in a sequential order.

To compare and contrast birds and bats.

To note how an author creates the mood of a story.

To continue to practice reading and writing words that end in glide sounds ng, nk.

Tuesday : study math facts all 0’s,1’s,2’s, 3’s, 4’s

Wednesday: Fluency folder

Thursday : study ALL word study words up to unit 11

To learn about the growth of a pumpkin and to put the stages of growth into order using transitions.

To learn how to be an upstander and stand up against bullying.

To watch Spookley the Pumpkin.

To meet some of West Chester’s finest Firefighters and learn more about fire safety.

To review sounds and write magic c letters.

To listen to The Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle.

To know that l,s,f. and z are doubled at the end of a short vowel one syllable word.
