Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds.

To continue to compare and combine numbers.

To use number bonds and the counting on strategies to add.

To understand there are different ways to make the same number.

To make addition stories.

To solve a problem where the total number and one part are known.

To use problem solving steps to solve addition problems.

To review sounds and write magic c letters.

To listen to The Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle.

To know that l,s,f. and z are doubled at the end of a short vowel one syllable word.

New word study words this week: unit 9  off, will, miss, you, fizz, pass

Red words to know:  to, the, have, said, of

To write our own class version of the very busy spider.

To brainstorm describing words for spiders.

To learn more about spiders by reading non-fiction stories about spiders.

To write about our opinion on spiders and to give reasons to support our opinion.

To continue to identify the difference between fact and opinions.

To identify the elements of a narrative/fiction story.  Characters, setting, problem, solution.

To identify the features of a non-fiction text.

To celebrate Columbus Day and to learn about Christopher Columbus.

To learn about N,S,E, and W on a compass rose.

To review the 7 continents and to learn the oceans and find them on the globe.

To observe our butterflies as they enter the adult stage.

To learn more about the life cycles of mealworms.

 

Homework :

Monday night: Complete a square on the READO

Tuesday night: practice Math facts all 2 (+ and -) review 0-1 if needed,

Wednesday night: no school today

Thursday : study word study words using your spelling menu
