To review all short and long vowel sounds.

To review numbers to 20.

To use different strategies to add and subtract 1 and 2 digit numbers.

To use the make 10 strategy to add and subtract.

To use the doubles and doubles plus and minus one strategies to add and subtract.

To measure using non-standard units of measurement.

To compare length and height.

To identify asking, telling, and exclamatory sentences.

To use period, question marks and exclamation points.

To identify and use descriptive words.

To identify base words and endings.

To identify genre of books including fiction, nonfiction, biography, autobiography.

To know that vowels followed by an r are r controlled vowels.  To identify the sounds of r controlled vowels.

To add s or es to a word to make it plural.

To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.

To write about a topic giving facts and details in a sequential order.

To listen and respond to Groundhog Day by Gail Gibbons.

To continue to read biographies of important African Americans and to research important Americans.\

To read with expression…. looking for quotation marks and giving characters voices!

To add dialog in our writing.

To use the double and doubles plus 1 strategy for adding and subtracting to 20.

To continue to practice our strategies for adding subtracting in small groups.

To begin a new unit on measurement.

To compare items by size.

To use a start line when measuring.

To read and write words with all short vowels.

To review and write the diver lowercase letters r, n, m, p, h, b .

To learn that –tch comes at the end of a short vowel one syllable word and to practice the exceptions to the rule.

To continue to learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and to continue to discuss the importance of treating others with respect.
