Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds.

To review unit 1-13 in project read and word study words.

To continue to work on diagraphs, (sh. Ch, th, wh) and blends (fl.gl,cl, sl,sw,squ, br,fr, etc.).

To identify and practice when to use exclamation points in a sentence.

To learn more about shapes by identifying halves and quarters/fourths.

To identify and compose 3 d shapes.

To continue to work with addition and subtraction facts to 10.

To identify and use descriptive words.

To review sounds and write lowercase diver letters (r, n, m, p, and h).

To identify fantasy and realism in a story.

To identify beginning, middle and end in story.

To identify details in a story.

To retell a story using detail.

To review all blends from unit 13.

To read and write words with short u.

To compare and contrast a fiction and non-fiction text.

To learn about Winter Holidays and how lights are used to celebrate.

To discuss the signs that winter is coming.

To listen and respond to Time for Bed, Little Bear. 

To persuade little bear to stay awake this winter by writing him a letter.

To complete our unit on Pebbles, sand and silt.

To continue to work with writing addition and subtraction sentences.

To use addition and subtraction to solve real word story problems.

To see that addition and subtraction are related by creating fact families.

To begin to study geometry and patterns in unit 5.

To sort shapes by one and more than one attribute.

To identify plane shapes and their characteristics.

To identify solid shapes and their characteristics.

To look for shapes in pictures and around us.

To identify word endings.

To review sounds and write lowercase a, o, c, g, d, q.

To identify details in a story.

To retell a story using story elements and important details.

To use picture context clues to preview and tell a story.

To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)

To practice words including diagraphs “the h brothers” ch, wh, th, sh.

To know that 2 sounds can blend together to make one phoneme.

Homework :   We are still collecting change for Veterans, Send in your disguised turkey this week!

Tuesday: Study math facts 1-4

Wednesday: Fluency Folder

Thursday:  Study word study words using your spelling menu.  Unit 13 no assessment this week same words next week.

Friday: National Education Week Visitation today (optional), You may come at 9:30 am for a readers theater or at 1:30 to visit our special area classes.

Look for Gobbles to come home this week with directions for another projectJ  I hope you can participate!

Request and Reminders:  You can return reading logs at any time when they are completed.  I will send a pizza slip and a new reading log for you.  You may also send for a new Reado  when you finish all squares.  Both can also be found on my website under Documents and files tab.
