Goals for the week:

To review all short and long vowel sounds.

To review numbers to 20.

To use place value to compare numbers.

To identify and extend number patterns

To use different strategies to add and subtract 1 and 2 digit numbers.

To review number bonds and fact families.

To use the make 10 strategy to add and subtract.

To use the doubles and doubles plus and minus one strategies to add and subtract.

To identify asking, telling, and exclamatory sentences.

To use period, question marks and exclamation points.

To identify and use descriptive words.

To identify base words and endings.

To identify genre of books including fiction, nonfiction, biography, autobiography.

To know that vowels followed by an r are r controlled vowels.  To identify the sounds of r controlled vowels.

To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.

To write about a topic giving facts and details in a sequential order.

To listen and respond to Groundhog Day by Gail Gibbons.

To continue to read biographies of important African Americans and to research important Americans.

To list facts and evidence while reading a non-fiction text.

To identify text features in a non-fiction text.

To compare 2 non-fiction texts.

To practice reading with fluency.

To identify story structure.

To identify characters, setting, problem and solution in Fiction Stories.

To identify features of Non Fiction texts. 

To know to use tch at the end of some short vowel one syllable words.

To know the exceptions to the rule above.

To use s and es to make a word plural.
