To identify more and fewer.

To compare fiction and nonfiction texts and to identify the features of each.

To identify the difference between fact and opinion.

To write our opinion about apples.

To continue our Science Units, Insects.

To observe our Caterpillars in the larva stage.

To continue to practice words with short a and to introduce short i. 

To identify what makes up a complete sentence and to practice writing sentences.

  I am happy with how the children are settling into our class routines and the full day of school!  Please speak to your child about the importance of listening.

Goals for the week:

To continue to count accurately and write 1-20.

To add and subtract by 0

To add fluently by 1 using the next door neighbor strategy.

To order numbers one through ten.

To identify one more and one fewer.

To use math vocabulary and symbols to explain greater than and less than.

To learn more about the Constitution on Constitution day.

To continue our science unit (insects).

To read stories about the alphabet and to learn to alphabetize.

To listed to the story of Chrysanthemum and have some fun!

To write a sentence with a subject and predicate.

To write a sentence using uppercase letters and punctuation.

To edit our work when finished.

To continue to learn the routines and work for our Daily Five.

To identify rhyming words.

To make predictions about a story.

To write with Style.

To appreciate US! 

To continue to practice words with short a. 

To practice reading words with short a and short I word family.

To read and spell unit 1-4 word study words.  (at, am, cat, sat, bat, fat, As, has, can, the, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in, big, have, did, if,)

Homework :  Read every night!

Monday: no school

Tuesday: practice flash cards for all 0’s (plus and minus).

Next week:   we will be decorating our writer’s notebooks.  Please send in pictures and decorations that will make the book special,(pictures that will inspire your child to write! Animals if they like animals, Barbie if they like Barbie, sports if they sports).  I will also be asking you to cover the books with contact paper over the weekend.  You may want to begin working on collecting pictures and purchasing contact paper.
