Goals for the week:

To learn more about Pebbles, Sand and Silt.

To observe what happens when some rocks are put into water.

To sort rocks by attributes.

To know that rocks can be found in different places.

To review all short vowel sounds.

To continue to work with addition and subtractions facts.

To use the count up, count back, and use number bond strategies to subtract.

To solve addition and subtraction stories.

To continue to compare and contrast non-fiction stories on the same topic. 

To note the 3 different types on nonfiction books: literary, resource, biography.

To discuss authors purpose for writing nonfiction.

To find and identify text features in nonfiction books to help us learn.

To use strategies and text features to learn the meanings of new words.

To read Stories about pumpkins, bats and spiders.

To continue to practice identifying the difference between a fiction and non-fiction story.

To study characters in a fiction story and identify character traits.

To identify story elements while reading and retelling stories.

To identify beginning, middle, and end of a story.

To identify facts and opinions.

To finish our informational writing about pumpkins, giving facts in sequential order.

To complete an informational writing on bats.

To learn how to be an up-stander and stand up against bullying.

To watch Spookley the Square Pumpkin for Kindness week.
