Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds

To read and write words with all the short vowels and to continue learning about long vowels.

To identify and use descriptive words.

To retell and summarize a story using story elements.

To identify story structure.

To identify characters, setting, problem and solution in Fiction Stories.

To identify features of Non Fiction texts. 

To know to use tch at the end of some short vowel one syllable words.

To know the exceptions to the rule above.

To use s and es to make a word plural.

Word study words this week:  unit 18 review: such, much, which, rich, catch, pitch, stitch, stretch.

Add: jumps, socks, lifts, chicks, catches, pitches, stretches, glasses.

 To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.

To listen and respond to Non Fiction Texts.

To continue to listen to Biographies.

To write a biography about a friend.

To compare and contrast two Non Fiction Texts.

To identify the main idea and key details in a nonfiction text.

To practice reading with fluency. 

To compare numbers to 20 using place value.

To compare 3 numbers.

To represent numbers to 20 using tens and ones.

To order numbers by making number patterns.

To learn more about sand, silt, and pebbles as we experiment with our new science unit.

Homework : 

Create a timeline of your life!  You can use photos, drawings, popplet app (children use here and can create with a little help from you).   Please send in some day this week to share with the class.  If you create electronically you can email the finished product to me, or print.

Monday:  Choose an activity from your READO and/or work on your timeline.

Tuesday: practice math facts 

Wednesday: fluency folder, winter story

Thursday:  study all word study words.
