Goals for the
week:
To review all short vowel sounds.
To continue to work with addition and subtraction facts.
To solve a problem using strategies.
To make quilt patterns by using shapes.
To repeat a quilt pattern to make a quilt.
To work with fractions.
To identify 3 d shapes.
To read and write words using short vowels a, i, o and e.
To identify details in a story.
To retell a story.
To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot,
main idea)
To read and write words including diagraphs “the h brothers” ch, wh, th, sh.
New word study words this week: well, men, get, tell set, let, when, them, then, would, could, should.
Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as,
has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, if, it, his
pack, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, sack, pack, its, him quit, six, fix, wax, on,
got, not, off, will, miss, you , fizz,

To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in
sentences. Unit 12 well, men, get, tell, set, let, wh, them,

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.
To listen and respond to Thanksgiving Stories.

To use descriptive words to describe a relative.
To listen to Thanksgiving is by Gail Gibbons.
To discuss the first Thanksgiving.
To compare and contrast the first Thanksgiving to our
Thanksgiving.
To learn more about Native American and Pilgrims.
To continue to learn about insects and life cycles.
To learn more about colonial times we will have a
traveling assembly from Winterthur.
Homework :
Monday night: Complete an activity on your READO board

Wednesday night: Complete the next writing prompt in your
100 things about me book
Thursday: Study

Friday: Turkey Due and please send Book Fair Money

Lunch money MUST
be in an envelope marked with a name and room number. Paying online is the easiest for first grade
if that is possible.
* Scholastic orders are available online, books make
great gifts! We have half days 11/24,
11/25, no school 11/26.
There will not be a newsletter next week due to short days
and conferences you should continue working on your READO and Math facts over
the holiday. Study all units Word study
