Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds.

To continue to work with addition facts.

To read a graph.

To solve a problem using strategies.

To sort shapes by one and more than one attribute.

To make patterns using shapes.

To make quilt patterns by using shapes.

To read and write words using short vowels a, i, and o.

To identify word endings.

To review sounds and write lowercase a, o, c, g, d, q.

To identify details in a story.

To retell a story.

To use picture context clues

To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)

To read and write words including diagraphs “the h brothers” ch, wh, th, sh.

New word study words this week:  unit 11 inch, whip, are, put, whiff, chill, That ,Thing, with, this, Dash, thank.

Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, if, it, his pack, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, sack, pack, its, him quit, six, fix, wax, on, got, not, was, box, job, off, will miss, you, fizz, pass, long, ring, pink, what, bank and sang.

Red words to know: to, the, of, said, have, was, you and what.

To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.

To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.

To listen to our Book of the Week:  The Day the Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant.

To write about our Relatives using describing words.

To write a personal narrative about our family.

To write with focus to a topic.

To listen to Thanksgiving by Gail Gibbons

To learn about the First Thanksgiving.

To write facts about the First Thanksgiving in sequential order.

To compare and contrast the First Thanksgiving to Thanksgiving today.

To remember our Veterans on Veteran’s Day.

To continue to learn about insects and life cycles.

 

Homework :

Monday night: Complete an activity on your READO board

Tuesday: Wear Red, White and Blue for Patriotic Spirit Day and  Study math facts +0,+1, +2,+3

Wednesday night: Complete the next writing prompt in your 100 things about me book

Thursday:  Study word study words using your spelling menu.  Unit 11

Friday: Look for Turkey homework to come home today.  Due by Friday next week.
