Newsletter 3/11/13


Mrs. Besselman’s Bulletin                               3/11/13

Goals for the week:

To finish our unit on measurement.
To measure distance using non standard units.
To review and practice strategies to add and subtract.
To review all short vowel sounds.
To hear short and long vowel sounds.
To hear and identify syllables.
To review all the phonics rules we have been learning so far.
To identify and use action words
To identify compound words.
To identify  that words with a /ch/ in the final position  end in –TCH, if the vowel is short and it is a one syllable word.
To note exceptions to the above rule.
 Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, if, it, his, pack, said, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, of sack, pack, Its, him, quit, six, fix, wax, on, got, not, box, job, off, will, miss, fix, pass, long, ring, pink, what, bank, sang. inch, whip, whiff, chill, that, thing, with, this, dish, thank, well, men get, tell, set, let, when, them, then, Flag, plan, sled, class, glad, black, fresh, bring, grass drink, crack, press, Twin, spell, still, swim, snack, skin, smell, Up, truck, sun, but, us
 Red words to know, to, the, have, said, of, was, you, are, put, what, should, would, could, they, your,  Mr. and Mrs., do , and, two, many, into, were.
Word study words this week:  such, much, which, rich, catch, pitch, stitch, stretch, red words :many, any, two, do
To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.
To self edit our writing using our writer’s eye.
To listen and respond to  Eek, there is a mouse in the house.
To identify nouns.
To add colorful words and adjectives to our sentences.
To practice reading with fluency.
To compare Lions and Lambs.
To Learn about Irish Myths and Legends and to have fun for St. Patrick’s Day.

Reminders:
Spring Fair is Saturday!!
Please do not allow children to bring toys or anything that is not needed to  school.
