Goals for the Week:
To continue to use capital letters and punctuation in sentences.
To self edit our writing using our writers eye.
To continue building our reading and writing stamina.
To build a story structure puzzle.
To continue to generate questions as we read.
To participate in a wordless picture walk and create our own story to go with them.
To continue our math games on creating combinations of ten.
To screen our river rocks, sand, and gravel.
To review all of the phonics rules we have been learning.
To start our new project read unit on r controlled words.

Goals for the week:

To finish our unit on measurement.
To measure distance using non standard units.
To review and practice strategies to add and subtract.
To review all short vowel sounds.
To hear short and long vowel sounds.
To hear and identify syllables.
To review all the phonics rules we have been learning so far.
To identify and use action words
To identify compound words.
To identify  that words with a /ch/ in the final position  end in –TCH, if the vowel is short and it is a one syllable word.
To note exceptions to the above rule.

Dr. Seuss Week!


Class events to celebrate Dr. Seuss!
Monday: Bring in your favorite Dr. Seuss Book

Tuesday:  Character interview list sent home today.  Please choose up to 3 questions from the list or come up with your own questions.  

Wednesday: Choose a character and answer your interview questions the way you think your character would answer them.  Write the questions on an index card to be used by another student who will interview you on Friday.

Thursday: prepare your costume and send your interview questions to school on index card.

Friday:  Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character  and prepare to be interviewed by a friend.
