Mrs. Besselman’s Bulletin                                  12/3/12

Goals for the week:
To review all short vowel sounds.
To review unit 1-10 in project read and word study words.
To introduce diagraphs, (sh. Ch, th, wh)
To use identify and practice when to use exclamation points in a sentence.
To continue to work with addition facts.
To find a missing part in addition.
To identify and use descriptive words.
To review sounds and write lowercase diver letters (r, n, m, p, and h).
To identify fantasy and realism in a story.
To identify beginning, middle and end in story.
To identify details in a story.
To retell a story using detail.
New word study words this week:  whip, are, put, whiff, chill, that, thing, with, this, dish, thank.
Word study words to know: am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, if, it, his, pack, said, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, of sack, pack. To learn about hibernation.
To learn about Winter Holidays and how they are celebrated.
To enjoy a musical performance for the holidays by our own Glen Acres Students in 3rd-5th grade.

Friday: Send in something that has a diagraph for sound sharing.

Send back your permission slip for the Nutcracker performance at Henderson High ASAP!
Chaperones will be Mrs Kazanjian, Mrs. Rogers, and Mrs. Tegler.
Holiday Bazaar is Friday!  Come out and shop!

To identify fantasy and realism in a story.
To identify details in a story.
To retell a story.
To use picture context clues
To identify story elements.(character, setting, plot, main idea)

Word study words to know (should be able to read automatically without sounding out) : am, at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, it, his, pack, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, sack, pack, its, him quit, six, fix, wax, on, got, not, was, box, job off, will, miss, you, fizz, pass.

Field Trip Update:
Our Colonial Plantation trip was rescheduled for May 30th.  Chaperones will remain the same , if you cannot make it please let me know.
We are also going to the Nutcracker at Henderson High school on Dec 11 (12:30-2:30) permission forms will go home this week.
