Goals for the week:

To continue to count and write 1-20.

To count forward and backward.

To order numbers.

To practice plus 1 math facts

To practice minus 1 facts.

To create number bonds using manipulatives and a math balance.

To create number bonds with 3 parts.

To see the part, part, whole relationship in a number bond.

To identify numbers using greater than and less than symbols.

To combine and compare numbers.

To identify more and fewer.

To compare fiction and nonfiction texts and to identify the features of each.

To identify the difference between fact and opinion.

To write our opinion about apples.

To continue our Science Units, Insects.

To observe our Caterpillars in the larva stage.

To continue to practice words with short a and to introduce short i. 

To identify what makes up a complete sentence and to practice writing sentences.

To work independently in our Daily five centers.

To begin reading groups.

To read and write words with the short vowels a and i.

Word study words your child should know:  at, am, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, and the red word, the, had, van, sad, bad, rag in, big, is, have, did, if, it, sit, lit, fit, wig, jig, fig, pig, zig, to it,his,pack,said, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, of, sack, pack. , .

To know that K takes I and E and C takes the other 3 when it comes to spelling.

To know that -ck comes at the end of a short vowel one syllable word.

To review the sounds of the letters qu, x, y.

To complete unit 7 in our project read/word study our new words are: its, him, quit, quiz, quick, six, fix, wax, yam, yack.

 

Homework :

Monday:  complete an activity from your READO board

Tuesday:  study math facts all the ones.

Wednesday:  Fluency folder, practice sight words

Thursday:  choose any activity from the spelling menu to practice the words for this week.

Friday:  Early dismissal, no lunch but pack a snack.
