Due to the short week next week we not have a newsletter!

Goals for the week:

To review all short vowel sounds.

To identify long vowel sounds and times we see them (vowel pair, magic e, open syllable)

To continue to work on addition and subtraction.

To continue to work on problem solving strategies.

To identify tens and ones as place value and to build numbers using 10’s and 1’s.

To read and write words with l and r blends.

To identify and use descriptive words.

To identify details in a story.

To retell a story.

To read many more versions of Gingerbread stories.

To continue to compare and contrast Gingerbread stories.

  Word study words to practice over the break, children should know automatically and be able to use in writing: , at, cat, sat, bat, fat, as, has, can, an, man, had, van, sad, to, bad, rag, in big, is, did, if, it, his, pack, said, sick, tack, back, kid, cab, of sack, pack. Goals for Next week:

To continue to discuss about how different cultures and countries celebrate winter holidays.

To have some fun at our own holiday party.

To read and watch The Polar Express

 

Homework :  (you do not need to do homework if you are celebrating a religious holiday this week)

Monday night: Choose an activity from your READO board

Tuesday:  study math facts

Wednesday: Write a letter to Santa or a card to a friend.

Thursday:  study word study words.

Tuesday next week 12/23: Wear PJ’s or bring a robe and slippers for our Polar Express.  Class Party in the afternoon.  Only parent helpers please.
